This was a task of reviewing existing strategic safety management systems and determining the main parts that would be required in a simplified and generally office based environment. A template was produced to create a safety management system for mainly office based Groups within Defence. The template would be used and adapted to suit the organisation structure of the office based Group. This same template was approved for use by CSI in other Commonwealth Government Departments to allow for benchmarking against external organisations in the health and safety arena. VCDF, JLC, I&SG, PSP groups picked up on the template initially and DFAT, Austrade and Questacon picked up on the system later.
