This project was conducted over a number of weeks and involved reviewing all hazardous chemicals registers in all Defence workplaces and creating a consolidated list of the 2,000,000+ chemicals in those lists in a researchable data base (Microsoft Excel). Time ran short and the project was not totally finalised, however, 25,000 individual line items were identified and some 400 of those items were identified as being high risk chemicals for which substitution action should be commenced as a matter of priority.
